Dance. Love. Sweat.

Home: Welcome

Hi, my name is Lovelyn Redfearn. Most people call me Love.

As of September 2022, I have decided to take a hiatus from teaching my weekly cardio hip hop dance & fitness classes under LR DOT.

I am available to teach cardio dance for special events or book me for your next private 1:1 or group session with friends or co-workers!

On a weeky basis I teach Cardio Burlesque every Thursday evening at The Culture Shock Training Academy near Old Town. To book a  class, you will need to contact Culture Shock directly. LR DOT & Culture Shock are two separate businesses. You cannot book class at Culture Shock through this website. I also teach indoor cycling (dancing on a bike) for EDGE CYCLE in La Jolla & Eastlake. You will also need to contact EDGE directly to book a class.

My story for starting LR DOT?  Well as you all know COVID-19 has impacted us all in ways we'd never imagined. As the saying goes.. "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade". I learned to lean into the skid and pivot. Dance was always my passion, but had been more of a side hustle for years. The "Shelter In Place" order offered me the time to turn the side hustle into the MAIN HUSTLE. And I haven't looked back since!

I fell in love with dance at a young age competing and joining in school talent shows all the way through high school. I have danced professionally on multiple San Diego dance teams such as Culture Shock San Diego, UFX and 220. I have had the great honor of dancing for amazing SoCal choreographers at incredible venues such as the historic Spreckles Theatre in Downtown San Diego, Lyceum Theatre, House of Blues San Diego, PETCO Park, Waterfront Park, and the famous Key Club in Los Angeles.

Professionally I have danced for Sea World San Diego, provided & styled groups of dancers for San Diego COMIC CON & FUNKO several years in a row. I also provided choreography for the San Diego Mesa College Dance program. I was a back-up dancer in a YouTube music video re-make for FLO-RIDA’s “Wild Ones”, and for multiple local San Diego artists. From 2014-2017, I was the Lead Production Manager and an ensemble dancer for "A Culture Shock Nutcracker", a hip hop theatrical created by Angie Bunch, Founder of Culture Shock San Diego. In 2012 I also had the amazing experience of living abroad in China as a professional dancer.

More recently, I have provided well-being classes for large corporations such as Andaz San Diego, a Hyatt property; GreatCall, Wunderman Thompson, Crohns' Foundation, Hyatt Aviara Carlsbad, and Curology. I created choreography & taught the final round of the '20-21 Sirens Dance team auditions. I am also a Creator for TikTok for their Creative Learning Fund Campaign. Thru this campaign I am able to continue sharing my passion for dance & fitness with 60 second tutorials! Add me on TikTok & Duet me!

I have also partnered with incredible fitness advocates & influencers such as Strength In the City, SUTRA, Babes Who Sweat & SweatinSD.

Through dance and an overall passion for health and wellness, I strive for human connection. Dance & exercise are my forms of offering support, love & inclusion to my community. I hope to inspire others to “start”, and how to step into their power to build confidence, so they too can feel the positive effects that a healthy lifestyle can create.

At a root level, I believe dance can be fun and should be embraced, enjoyed and not feared by anyone.

"What makes Lovelyn a great instructor is her love for dance. Her movements are so authentic that whether you are in person or virtually, you connect with her instantly! Her classes are great for every level and she has a way about her that allows you to be yourself. It feels like you are with your best friend at a club! I always end class with a smile and feeling strong & sexy. Yeah there are some booty moves! Her classes have meant so much to me when I started dancing a year or so ago, and now mean even more as we are going through this shelter in place stuff. Lovelyn brings joy to my life; Thank you for all you do to make that happen for me and everyone else that gets to take your classes!"

"Lovelyn was a huge help in getting started with hip hop. As someone with no experience, I found her teaching ability and style super easy to follow and her encouragement was paramount. Over just a few 1-1 lessons I gained lots of confidence and was easily navigating a full routine. I would recommend Lovelyn as a teacher for anyone looking to get started or up their game in dancing!"

"I only dance with the best...and YOU make me want to fight through to the end of each workout - no matter if I'm ready to drop to the floor! Much love to you & your workouts. Without you during COVID, omg I don't even want to think about it."

I’ve been taking dance classes for 10 years and was even a former Zumba instructor, I got tired of going to the same type of class every single week and eventually quit some thing I loved. I then found Lovelyn‘s classes, the energy and encouragement she gives everyone of her students is unparalleled to anything I’ve ever seen or experienced. She brings out the best in you while pushing you out of your comfort zone. You will leave her class feeling empowered, confident, sexy and you’ll burn way more calories than at the gym.
